Centre for Theoretical and
Applied Ecology – CETA (Italy)

Logo of CETA

Established in 1987 in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Centre for Theoretical and Applied Ecology is a non profit association. CETA’s professionals carry out research, applied experimentation and innovative technology development in different environmental sectors: sustainable management of environmental and natural resources; promotion and diffusion of renewable energy technologies; energy efficiency and energy planning and scientific dissemination. The activities of the centre are supported by a microbiological and chemical laboratory, pilot plants, agronomic fields and experimental parcels. CETA offers services such as energy analysis of buildings and definition of guidelines for sustainable building in different environments and carries out research on new sustainable building materials.

Reduction of energy consumption through energy saving actions, improvement of plant efficiency, integrated use of renewable energy sources are the basic elements for energy and environmental sustainability. In the frame of the GovernEE project, two main clusters will be set up for pilots to test the strategic framework and to feed it with concrete results: a pilot for ICT tool development to measure energy efficiency (EE) and another to identify renewable energy sources (RES) to improve energy efficiency in heating of historic buildings for which C.E.T.A. is the appointed supporting research institute. As research coordinator of the renewable energy sources cluster, its primary role will consist of providing transnational quality control of research activities as to ensure a successful outcome of common solutions to shared challenges in diverse local environments.
